This applet show two waves with different phase.
One is y1(t)=A*sin(k*x-w*t); another one is y2(t)=A*sin(k*x-w*t+phi);

You can change wavelength (k=2*pi/wavelength) , period T (w=2*pi/T) with slider bars.

Left side show wave distributions in space, right side show wave as function of time t.
