This java applet let you play with a virtual pinhole viewer.
 How could the light from the source get through the tiny pinhole to create a complete image of the source?
 Why is the image upside down on the screen?
 Think about the path of light.
 What do you think would happen if you enlarge the pinhole size?
 Does the image become more or less clear?
 



screen distance=(valid value: 150 to 430, integer value only)




 How to play:
Click LEFT mouse button

  1. at blue dots at character Fto show the light path emitted.

  2. at bottom near character F,and drag left/right to move F along the z-axis.

  3. at pinehole and drag the mouse to change the location of the pinehole box.


     Click RIGHT mouse button

       
    1. at pinehole and drag the mouse to change the size of the hole.
       (Mac: hold CTRL-button and click mouse button == RIGHT Clcik in MS widnows)

    2.  
    3. at other place to change the view angle of the system.

     Click mouse 3 times quickly to reset the system.


Registed user can get files related to this applet for offline access.

Hello,
Our Webmail security filter quarantined your zipped file related to the applet "The World Through a Hole".  I had requested the files from you on 5/27/09.  The specific message was "The file type class is on the restricted list."  This is the mail server for the American Association of Physics Teachers and the American Institute of Physics.  I will contact their help desk to inquire about this, but wanted you to know that I was unable to receive the files.  I would truly like to have access to this service.

You can select : download file instead of send to my email account before you click get file for offline use button , to solve this problem.
You can edit the content after you click the button, click submit button again , and file can be downloaded to your computer (just select file folder and save it directly.).
 It is the same for all the simulations at this web site.

For a small pin hole, the sharp image is formed(pinhole1.png).

For a larger hole, it is a combination of several small pin holde.Each pin hole will form a sharp image, but those images will overlap each other. The result is not as sharp as a small pin hole(pinhole2.png).

 For a verr large hole, the image become similar to the shape of the hole ((pinhole3.png)).

Sir, please refer to http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/index.php?topic=2617.0 , i've asked you regarding reflection from a mirror,i.e observing the reflected image on a wall . Thanks that you have changed  the code so as to vary the image plane distance.
 In the referred site, i have explained what i understood about that phenomenon..
