what is it the flame probe experiment about?
I don't really understand its principle...
can anyone explain it to me clearly?

Hello People,
Hope you can help. I have an Rheem Air/Heat NG furnace. I believe that the flame probe is bad but not quite sure how to check it. This probe has only one wire connected to it at the rear and is tapped in at the white wire that feeds the hot surface igniter. The igniter seems to be working off of A/C. Can someone tell me if there is a connection at the metal mount/ceramic area. In other words can I check for continuity either with the probe hot or cold from the wire to the mount. How is this part of the circuit look like?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
