I have remixed this Incline Ramp written by Francisco Esquembre for use in Elementary School . Thanks to Francisco Esquembre for the code. The original code can be found @ http://www.opensourcephysics.org/items/detail.cfm?ID=9973

1. Disable step button when the end of the ramp is reached.
2.Indicate the height of the ramp
3. Resolve bug if end of the ramp is reached.
4. Change the inclination angle to the height of the ramp
5. Specify the material (hard code the coefficient of friction)
6. Show velocity/
7. Remove the unncessary forces

Maybe can consider using that for accessement. Let the students design an experiment to find out which material has the most friction.

Can anyone give me some possible values of static and kinetic coefficient of friction? I am trying to make this applet as realistic as possible.

If an object just about to slide down from an incline plane (increase the angle slowly),
then the $tan\theta$ value for that angle will be the static friction between that object and the incline plane.
So normally, the value is between 0-1.

Friction coefficient of tires on the road : initial value is 0.8

Typical value of tires   static coefficient  kinetic coefficient
auto tires on dry concrete  1.0  0.7-0.8
auto tires on wet concrete  0.7     0.5
auto tires on icyconcrete     0.3  0.02

It only work if the attached file is bounded to the first posted message.
Try to create a new topic and attach the image at the same time, and try to use "upload EJS jar file" option to upload the jar file.
