Can any one help me in solving the following problem of ¡§Wave Optics¡¨ ? Is it possible to explain the same using any dynamic Java applet, how exactly the fifth bright fringe can be produced at the place of central bright fringe? I am still wondered how exactly this will look like.
¡§The wavelength of light used in interference produced by two waves is 600 nm. On placing a plate of refractive index 1.5 and thickness d in the passage of one of the rays, fifth bright fringe D produced at the place of central bright fringe, find the thickness of the fringe.¡¨

There is no phase differences at the central brightness line.
Normal the fifth brightness line is produced due to there are phase difference due to different path.
And the difference is $5\lambda$ when light exit from those two slits are the same phase.

You can make phase difference at the silt so that the fifth brightness line become the central brightness line,
if the phase difference is $5\lambda$ due to placing a plate with larger difffaction index.
The condition is $(1.5-1)*d= 5\lambda$
