Hi,
me again ;o))
I have now to show students that weight is vertical downwards but without speaking of vectors.
The manner suggested in the books is to be seen in the attached file.

On the first two images, the cube in bottom is in modeling clay. First, we make a reference mark on it then we go up the plumbline (maybe with a crank). We burn then the wire (not to make it move) to show that the object will fall to the place located before => we prove that wight is going vertical downwards

In the third one, we just suspend an object with the dynamometer and read the result in newton (maybe here, it'll be fun to have 3 or 4 objects to suspend) => we show that weight is measuring in newton (and not in kg like all students think in France because we use  the word "weight" to express "mass" in common langage ...

Could you upload another image with better resolution? I want to use it as background image in the simulation. It will look nicer.
And could the image be vertically aligned. The image you have upload is titled by a small angle.
It will be nice to have a image with dynamometer alone. So that I can add it to the simulation.

The effect from the images does not look good so I did not use it.
This is my first version without the 3rd graph.
A spring is added at the center, user can drag object (at the bottom) to the end of the spring -- the object will attach to the spring automatically. The spring will reach new equilibrium shortly.

Drag the "hand" in the simulation downward with mouse , then release the mouse.

Will it be possible to mark a reference at the begining ? To move the whole installation to show that's the same in the right and in the left ? Maybe it'll be better with a sharp object ? Will it be possible to make the red vector an option ?

Please check out the updated simulation.
You can drag objects at the center (at the bottom) to the end of the spring. It will be attached to the spring.
There are n=8 objects for you to attach to the spring.
Please check out the attached image for illustraton.

Thanks. It's better and better ...

Can the second experiment (with dynamometer) be an option (to show the two experiments one by one) ?

Why do we have to reset to see the hand appear again and make the first experiment again ?

I modified it into two tabbed panel.
You just need to click init to make the hand show up again.

I believe I can come up with a better design if you can tell me not only what you want, but also tell me why you want it, and what you want to do with it (what is the purpose of the design).
I need to know in detail in order to create a simulation suit your need.

As the design is concerned, it's all right for me ;o))

But in the first experiment, is it possible to let a trace of the ball after make it goes up (I mean a circle in dot line to see that when we will let it fall, it'll go at the same place) ?
And a moving square to show that the trace is perpendicular to the ground.

I'm wondering too if it's possible not to see displacement by default.

And I would like to translate the name of the tabs (Replace Experiment 1 and 2 by Expérience 1 and 2) but they don't appear in the GUI translation tool ;o((

Because you ask me to show the same displacement in the right and in the left, that is why I add the "show displacement" as option and set it as default.

As far as I know, for the name of the tabs:
 you will need to download ejs xml source and modify the name of the tab,compile it again  to make it appear.
Change the name of the tab is not supported at this time yet.

In fact I was talking about moving everything (cranks and wires) to show that anywhere you test the experiment, it gives the same result.
But, it's not necessary in fact.

that is why I add the "show displacement" as option and set it as default.

Sorry. I'm not very precise when speaking english ;o((
I want first to show them the first experiment without anything ...
Then they will ask for trace and protractor to be sure that it's vertical and downwards

They will then go to the second experiment and see that the measure is done in newton (maybe you can suppress the "dy" parameter because they don't know about this writing).

They will see that the more balls they attach, the bigger the weight value is and that the spring is as well going downwards ...

I thought you want to show that when the string was pulled down: the distance being moved(down) from the right side is the same as the distance the object being moved (up) from the left side.

The simulation has been updated. Please check to see if it is what you want.

I asked Paco (who created the great tool:EJS) to add options for you to change the title of the tabbed pages.
You should be able to find the "tabbed page titles" as a string in the translation window, now.
