Title: Is the Video capture in EJS working properly ?
Post by: lookang on February 17, 2009, 07:53:50 am
Do you know if there are issues with the video capture in EJS screen using their default video capture method?

1. Run a EJS model
2. right click mouse to select options as shown in attachment 1 (capture video)(http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=967.0;attach=683)
3. check box for  capture in attachment 3 (http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=967.0;attach=689)
4. goto EJS applet to conduct exploration for screen capture purposes
5. after finishing explore, goto screen to uncheck box called "Capture"
6. EJS prompt to save file
7. name as ejsvideocapture
8. output is somewhat not exactly the same as the applet with some weird output attachment 2 (http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=967.0;attach=691) i select animated gif setting and made it to loop so that it can be seen again and again

any idea is it a bug or i am doing it wrong?

It is fine if you just want to capture drawingPanel or plottingPanel.
Captured pictures for each panel overlapped when you want to capture both drawingPanel and plottingPanel.
Ejs capture each panel as a static picture and put those picture together to created animated gif.
I will try to contact Paco about this. But it might not be easy to fix it.

Hello,
Yes. I could reproduce the bug. I am afraid that, sometimes, the redrawing of the view elements loose their synchronization. I thought I had done enough to solve this problem (which I had seen before) but, obviously, it is still there.

I am sorry to say that I cannot offer a quick solution.

As a workaround, try to reduce the size of the window before taking the video.

Why can not capture video in  EJS 4.3.2?
It does not "capture video" menu item.

I suggest setup quick time media and try capture video again by EJS,however what i sure is
EJS 4.3.2 and other versions from EJS have capture video menu item.

Due to large file size of EJS created jar file.
The EJS simulation creater can select the following option:
1. Add screen capture tools
2. Add data processing tools
3. Add language facilities
4. Add support for eMersion

You can re-generate the jar file if you need screen capture option (and the one you have does not support screen capture).

What I mean is EJS support video capture, but it is an option.
You need to turn on the option.

Please check out the attached file.
