Title: Rectifier circuit
Post by: Fu-Kwun Hwang on October 06, 2007, 05:02:51 pm
The following applet simulate a rectifier circuit.
The moving dots simulate the drift motion of election in the circuit.

This is a similar one, but you can also add a capacitor to filter out the ripple. (click the check box)

Are there mistakes in the animation when a capacitor is added?
Th A.C. Voltage alternates yet the current doesn't(when it leaves the source),only one diode path is being used, and shouldn't the capacitor discharge in the direction opposite of the charge and also charge and discharge every half-cycle?

Yes. You are correct. It was a bug in the program.
I should have typed I=IC+IR in the code,  but I typed in I=I+IR.
Now, it is fixed. Thank you!

The above applet was generated with EJS and you can download EJS source and load it into EJS to generate new one.

My java version is 1.6.0_11,too! It work fine with my browsers (either firefox or IE).
There is no error message! I do not know what might be the problem?
