Title: need an idea for esigning a collapsible coupling
Post by: saikiran on February 14, 2006, 08:53:35 am
hi all,

I'm doin a project on designing a [b:f4aede5325]collapsible coupling[/b:f4aede5325] for a tie rod in a brake booster. Here the tieod is a static shaft which has no rotation or linear motion.Only tensile force is experienced on the tierod during brake application and some amount of compressive force also experienced.During a crash these Tie rods don't compress and hit the firewall of the automobil and cause damage.
Please give me suggestions for designing a [b:f4aede5325]collapsible tie rod[/b:f4aede5325] for this setup.
Thankyou
