great page, very complete. i have a question. On my way to work, around 7:30 AM, i saw a rainbow almost perpendicular to the horizon. i know that it's possible that the light which was refracted and reflected could have been coming from the sun in the east but it was very early and the sun was barely above the horizon.
i noted that a full moon was up and low on the western horizon--close to the rainbow's position. at the risk of sounding dumb here is my question: is it possible that the reflected light from the moon could have formed that rainbow (i have never experienced this before)? with all the positions i've tried to explain, it seems that that could very well be possible and maybe more probable than the formation by direct sunlight. thanks for your time,
